Local festivals in Rota
The patronal festivities in honour of Nuestra Señora del Rosario Coronada are usually celebrated over several days and culminate on 7 October. The procession of ladies and pages, formal tribute, music and gatherings in streets and squares precede the patron saint’s procession from Nuestra Señora de la O parish church and the closing fireworks beside Castillo de Luna.
Spring Fair
The Spring Fair brings together casetas, illuminations, dancing and equestrian tradition at the fairground. Competitions for casetas, riders and horses, together with dance academies and local associations, reinforce its participatory character.
Other celebrations: Fiesta de la Urta and Carnival
In summer, the Fiesta de la Urta celebrates Rota’s food heritage through the urta a la roteña competition, prepared by professional and amateur cooks, alongside music and town-centre activities. Carnival completes the calendar with carnival groups, clubs, fancy dress, a parade and performances co-ordinated by local organisations and community groups.
