Local festivals of Jerez de la Frontera

The Feria del Caballo is Jerez's main popular celebration, centred on González Hontoria Park. Its traditions include the switching-on of the lights, horses and carriages, conformation and dressage competitions, equestrian shows and life in the casetas. The Town Council, caseta operators, stud farms and equestrian organisations, performers, families, residents and visitors all take part.

Casetas, horses and carriages, flamenco and food and wine associated with sherry distinguish the fair. Holy Week and the Grape Harvest Festival complete the calendar; the latter preserves the traditional opening grape-treading ceremony at the Cathedral Redoubt, alongside tastings and activities in wineries and the historic centre.
