Our Lady of the Remedies Patronal Festival in Pliego

Usual date

The principal day is 8 September. The Alborada and traditional Pedida take place on 7 September, followed by the Brotherhood's raffle on 9 September. The wider programme usually extends over several weeks around these dates.

Where it is held

The religious events centre on the Hermitage of Nuestra Señora de los Remedios and the Church of Santiago Apóstol. The civic programme uses Plaza Mayor, Jardín de la Glorieta, Parque de las Cañadas, the Explanada del Cinto and other municipal venues around Pliego.

The patron and the religious cycle

Devotion to the Virgen de los Remedios shapes the celebration. A pilgrimage brings the image from the hermitage to the church, the novena prepares for the central days, and the Alborada, solemn Mass, procession and later return to the hermitage form its most important religious moments.

• The Alborada Mass, accompanied by music and the ringing of bells.
• The Pedida through the streets, solemn Mass and procession of the patron.
• The Brotherhood's traditional raffle in Plaza Mayor.

Organisation and participation

Pliego Town Council prepares the programme with the Hermandad de Nuestra Señora de los Remedios and support from the Agrupación Musical Nuestra Señora de los Remedios, associations, sports clubs, municipal services, the local police, Civil Protection and residents.
