Aranjuez Mutiny Festival
The Aranjuez Mutiny Festival turns the town into a stage for historical performances, music, family activities and popular events linked to the memory of the events of 1808.

The festival is usually held in early September. Exact dates vary each year, and the municipal programme spreads the central events over several days.

Where it is held
The celebration fills landmark spaces and neighbourhoods across Aranjuez. Plaza de la Constitución, Plaza de Parejas, Palacio de Godoy, Plaza de San Antonio, Raso de la Estrella, calle de las Infantas, the River Tagus and the fairground are among its principal settings.
Historical re-enactment
The Asalto a la Casa de Godoy and the Escenificación del Motín de Aranjuez recall the historical events of 1808. Residents and associations take part in performances that move through the streets and reach monumental settings in the Real Sitio.
Amotinado Mayor and opening proclamation
Each edition includes the opening proclamation and the appointment of the Amotinado Mayor. These institutional ceremonies sit alongside the re-enactments and reinforce the connection between local history and the modern celebration.
Descenso Pirata and popular activities
The Descenso Pirata del Tajo is another distinctive part of the programme: craft and participants gather on the river for a day of creativity and community spirit. Concerts, a Goya-era market, children's activities, sport, food and the fairground complete the festival.
Tourism recognition
The Aranjuez Mutiny Festival was declared a Festival of National Tourist Interest in 1990 and of International Tourist Interest in 2014.
