2026 San Bartolomé Festivities programme in Zegama

Zegama's programme covers 21, 22, 23, 24, 25, 29 and 30 August 2026. The patronal day falls on Monday 24.

Friday 21 August: Mozorroen Eguna

  • 09:30: local cycling events for ages 2-13 and the 54th Subida al Apeadero, 27th Jabier Berasategi Memorial, for ages 14 and over.
  • 11:30: fancy-dress cuadrillas gather in the square with Charanga Txorongo.
  • 12:00: descent of Belea, proclamation, txupinazo, festival neckerchief and bells with rockets.
  • 14:00: cuadrilla lunch in Plaza Elizondo.
  • 16:00: local bowls at Txarape bowling alley.
  • 16:30: final of the 47th Zegama five-a-side football championship.
  • 18:00: parade of giants and big-head figures with Txorongo.
  • 19:30: sokamuturra at Ibarreta field.
  • 20:45: fancy-dress prizes.
  • 21:00-22:00 and 00:00-03:00: open-air dancing with Bide Batez in the square.

Saturday 22 August

  • 09:00: morning parade with dulzaina players from Iruñea.
  • 12:00: rural sports in Plaza Jose Maiora: woodchoppers Eneko Saralegi-Ibai Soroa against Ugaitz Mugertza-Txomin Amundarain, and stone-lifters Udane and Elene Ostolaza.
  • 12:30-14:00 and 19:00-21:00: painting, carving and crafts exhibition at Jabier Otaegi cultural centre.
  • 13:30: first bertsolari session under the Town Hall arcades with Julio Soto, Unai Agirre, Maialen Lujanbio and Maddiane Txoperena; Amaia Agirre as theme-setter.
  • 17:00: inflatables at the swimming pool, or the fronton if wet.
  • 18:00: second bertsolari session under the Town Hall arcades.
  • 19:30: parade of giants and big-head figures with dulzaina players.
  • 21:00: communal dinner with Lumagorri chicken and Blancher's Zegama Edition cava in the school courtyard.
  • 23:00: open-air dancing with Fan&Go and Trikizio in the square.
  • 03:00: DJ Fifi eta Fefa.

Sunday 23 August: Kuadrillen Eguna

  • 09:00: morning parade with Charanga Betike.
  • 11:00: residents' toka championship; registration until 12:30.
  • 11:30: Basabe beer and products from Xabier Azurmendi, Ioritz Etxeberria and Carnicería Oiarbide.
  • 12:30-14:00 and 19:00-21:00: exhibition at Jabier Otaegi cultural centre.
  • 14:30: cuadrilla lunch, followed by open-air dancing with Andoni Oilokiegi.
  • 19:30: Vespers at the San Bartolomé chapel; parade of giants and big-head figures with Betike.
  • 21:00-22:00: dancing with Norabide in the square.
  • 00:00: dancing with Gozategi Taldea and GTI in the square.
  • 03:00: DJ Bull.

Monday 24 August: San Bartolome Eguna eta Gazteen Eguna

  • 09:00: morning parade with Zegama's txistularis.
  • 11:00: procession from the San Bartolomé chapel to the parish church with txistularis, dancers and dignitaries, followed by High Mass.
  • 12:30-14:00 and 19:00-21:00: exhibition at Jabier Otaegi cultural centre.
  • 12:30: soka-dantza with Tobera Musika eta Dantza pupils.
  • 13:15: welcome for children born between 24 August 2025 and 24 August 2026; then the Agurra, Zinta dantza, Abaltzisketa's Txantxo dantza, Axuri beltza, Saski dantza, fandango, arin-arin and a kalejira in the square.
  • 17:00: federation pelota matches at Toki Alai fronton.
  • 18:00: sokamuturra at Ibarreta field.
  • 19:00: musical bar tour; 19:15: giants and big-head figures with the local txistularis.
  • 20:00: cider and sardine tasting.
  • 21:30: 19th Young People's Dinner and electrotxaranga, organised by Gazte Herexa.
  • 21:00-22:00 and 00:00-03:00: dancing with Joselu Anaiak in the square.
  • 03:30: GazteOn Gaba 2.

Tuesday 25 August: Umeen Eguna

  • 09:00: morning parade with Tobera Musika trikitilaris.
  • 10:00: Mass at the San Bartolomé chapel in memory of people who died during the year; associations' paella competition in the school courtyard.
  • 11:00-13:00: Bizi Jolasak children's games with Bizilore.
  • 13:00: paella prizes and tasting.
  • 15:30: clay-pigeon shooting at Ibarreta Kantera.
  • 17:00: parade with Txantrea's giants and big-head figures.
  • 19:00: children's Xaibor DJ show.
  • 22:30: Adio Beleari farewell procession sets off from Askatasunaren Etorbidea.

Saturday 29 and Sunday 30 August

  • Saturday 29, 09:00: 92nd San Bartolomé amateur cycling race.
  • Sunday 30, 10:30: provincial bowls championship at Txarape bowling alley, organised by Belatxinga; registration 10:30-11:30.
