Las Capeas of Segura de Leon 2026 programme

Preliminary activities begin on Saturday 5 September, while Las Capeas runs from Friday 11 to Wednesday 16 September 2026. Monday 14 is the principal day of Cristo de la Reja.

Notice: the programme may change. Follow council and organiser instructions, particularly at events involving cattle. Access and safety information issued for each event takes precedence over this summary.

Saturday 5 September: Día de la Tranca

  • 20:00: workshops for children, with registration at the Town Hall.
  • 22:00: placing of the Tranca.
  • Afterwards: The Achos perform, followed by a DJ set.

Sunday 6 September

  • 20:30: quinario for Santísimo Cristo de la Reja at Nuestra Señora de la Asunción parish church, preached by José Luis Garduño Romero.

Tuesday 8 September

  • 22:00: 19th José González Sánchez Las Capeas talks at Cine Victoria: tribute talk for José Mari Garrido and Capeas 2025 audiovisual screening by Santiago Jaramillo and Ángel Matito.

Wednesday 9 September

  • 22:00: 19th Las Capeas talks at Cine Victoria: 12th youth opening address by José Luis Megías Molina and a performance by flamenco group Esencia.

Tickets for the 8 and 9 September sessions go on sale at the Town Hall on 3 September at 21:30. They cost €3 per day, with a maximum of two tickets per person per day. Remaining tickets are sold exclusively at the Town Hall during office hours.

Thursday 10 September

  • After the quinario: official proclamation of the 2026 Vaquera Mayor and Zagalas at the Town Hall. Celia Maya Díaz, the 2025 speaker, introduces the 2026 speaker, Santiago Montero Cruzada.
  • Afterwards: open-air dance with Orquesta Magical Show, featuring Sandra and Luisa María, followed by a DJ set.

Friday 11 September

  • 18:00: capea with cattle from José María Garrido Garduño.
  • Afterwards: Aurum performs international pop-rock, followed by a DJ set.

Saturday 12 September

  • 12:00: enclosure and educational capea with cattle from Francisco Jaramillo Hurtado.
  • 18:00: capea with cattle from Ángel Manuel Jaramillo Venegas.
  • Afterwards: Aurelio Gallardo performs, followed by a DJ set.

Sunday 13 September

  • 12:00: women's capea with cattle from Ángel Oyola Bernáldez.
  • 18:00: capea with cattle from Francisco Díaz González.
  • Afterwards: Grupo Bandelbirra performs, followed by a DJ set.

Monday 14 September

  • 10:30: tribute and remembrance for people repressed during the Spanish Civil War, Parish Cemetery.
  • 11:30: solemn service at Santísimo Cristo de la Reja church, led by parish priest Fernando Agudo Domínguez. The Castillo y Encinas choir performs the Misa Extremeña by Father Emilio Blas, S. J.
  • 18:00: capea with cattle from José Ignacio Lozano González and Manuel Lozano González.
  • Afterwards: DJ Night at several points around the town, including Calle Infierno and the Paseo.

Tuesday 15 September

  • 18:00: capea with cattle from Hermanos Medina Jaramillo and Manuel Rebollo Contreras.
  • Afterwards: Grupo Próxima Parada performs a tribute to Manuel Carrasco, followed by a DJ set.

Wednesday 16 September

  • 18:00: capea with cattle from José González Eugenio.
  • Afterwards: Cosmonautas perform, followed by a DJ set.
  • 00:00: Segura New Year's Eve celebration in the square.

Reserve livestock farmers

The programme names Juan Manuel Jaramillo Molina as first reserve, and José María Aguado Alba and José González Eugenio as second reserves.
