2026 Cabra September Fair and Virgen de la Sierra programme

The Real Feria and festivities run from 3 to 8 September 2026. The Feast of the Nativity of Mary on 8 September is the main day.

Pre-fair: 28 August to 2 September 2026

  • Friday 28, 21:00: concert announcing the patron's arrival by the Banda de Música de Cabra, Plaza Vieja; 21:30: 20th Fusión charity summer gala, Auditorio Municipal Alcalde Juan Muñoz.
  • Saturday 29, 09:00-14:00: 4th Aceites Monteoliva futsal tournament, municipal sports hall; 20:30: 57th Fuente del Río football trophy, Ciudad Deportiva María Dolores Jiménez Guardeño; 22:00: Pastora Soler, Auditorio Municipal.
  • Monday 31, 19:00: Paranáense-Wolverhampton in the youth XVII Mundial de Clubes group stage; Tuesday 1, 20:00: Real Sociedad-Bayer Leverkusen; Thursday 3, 20:00: Málaga-São Paulo; Saturday 5, 12:00: quarter-final.
  • Tuesday 1, 20:00: youth hike starting and finishing in Plaza de España; 21:00: tribute concert for the Egabrense Ausente by the Centro Filarmónico Egabrense choir and orchestra, Cinestudio Municipal Antonio Espinar Arcos.
  • Wednesday 2, 08:00: 2nd adventure gymkhana for ages 6-12; 12:00: 23rd gathering for older residents, Bar Atalaya; 20:00: gigantes y cabezudos parade from Plaza de España through José Solís, Cervantes, Muñiz Terrones, Parrillas, Barahona de Soto and Redondo Marqués; at the same time, Local Tennis Tournament final at the Ciudad Deportiva.

Thursday 3 September 2026

  • During the day: the Virgen de la Sierra flag and drum pass through the streets announcing the patron's arrival.
  • 20:30: 1st Ciudad de Cabra futsal trophy, CD Ega Futsal-CD Puntos Suspensivos, municipal sports hall.
  • 21:00: investiture of festival queen Sara Montes Ordóñez, king Dylan Castillo Rodríguez and ladies Julia Pastor Toro, Ainhoa Rubio Cantero, Rocío Rosa Arroyo and Sara Serrano Ropero; proclamation by Antonio Jesús Fernández Espinar, introduced by Manuel Moreno Martín, Salón del Parque Alcántara Romero.
  • After the proclamation: procession through Pepita Jiménez, Almaraz, Martín Belda, Barahona de Soto, Plaza de España, Córdoba and Norte; switching-on of the illuminations and opening of the Caseta Municipal, Caseta Joven and private casetas, with the Banda de Música de Cabra.
  • Afterwards: tribute to the proclaimer and court of honour, Patio de los Naranjos at Centro ADIE.
  • Approximately 23:30: DJ Edo, Caseta Municipal and Real de la Feria.
  • Children's Day: specially priced rides. On every fair day, rides operate without music from 20:30 to 21:30 for visitors with noise sensitivity.

Friday 4 September 2026: Bajá and entry

  • 08:30-09:00: riders leave Centro Ecuestre La Garrocha and 10:00 from the bus station to accompany the patron.
  • 09:00: ticket sales and buses to the sanctuary from avenida Fuente del Río; last bus at 15:00. General bell-ringing at the same time.
  • 12:00: pilgrims' Mass at the sanctuary; 15:15: Rosary.
  • 16:00: María Santísima de la Sierra leaves the sanctuary and begins the Bajá, carried by bearers, brothers and devotees.
  • On arrival: welcome at the parish church of San Francisco y San Rodrigo in Barriada Virgen de la Sierra.
  • 20:30: float assembly in avenida de Andalucía and Santa Teresa de Jornet.
  • 21:30: institutional procession leaves Plaza de España for the Arcos de la antigua calle Baena; riders and carriages assemble in Polígono Atalaya.
  • Approximately 22:15: triumphant entry of the patron through the Arcos, welcomed by clergy, authorities, brotherhoods, associations, devotees and residents; presentation of the mayoress's staff, with the band, riders, carriages and floats.
  • 22:00-01:30: children's caseta for ages 3-10, Real de la Feria; also open on 5, 6, 7 and 8 September.
  • 00:30 on 5 September: Orquesta Arrayán, followed by DJs Luis Pallarés and José Luis Tienda, Caseta Municipal.

Saturday 5 September 2026

  • 11:30: dramatised tour of the Castle exterior from the Tourist Office, booking required.
  • 12:00: youth Mundial de Clubes quarter-final.
  • 14:00: Día del Egabrense Ausente with Coro Romero Virgen de la Sierra, Cinestudio Municipal courtyard.
  • 14:30-19:30: Feria al Mediodía in Redondo Marqués and Plaza de España; 17:00: Los Cuatro Caños on the Plaza de España stage.
  • 15:00: midday fair with DJ Adrián Valverde, Centro Filarmónico Egabrense.
  • 15:00-20:00: Paseo de Caballos through José Solís, Santa Rosalía, Martín Belda, Almaraz, Pepita Jiménez, La Cruz, Arquilla, Plaza de la Diputación, San Marcos, Nicolás Albornoz and Plaza de España, with stops at Plaza de España and Centro ADIE; repeated on 6 and 7 September.
  • 17:00-20:00: 21st chess marathon, Casa de la Juventud.
  • 19:30 to approximately 24:00: Feria de Tarde with DJ Claudia Morel, Caseta Municipal.
  • 21:00: Batalla de Flores, two circuits through Pedro Iglesias, José Solís, Nicolás Albornoz and San Marcos; floats assemble from 20:30 in avenida de Andalucía and Santa Teresa de Jornet. Prizes at the Arcos de la antigua calle Baena.
  • 00:00: Orquesta Kacique, followed by DJ Luis Pallarés, Caseta Municipal.

Sunday 6 September 2026

  • 09:00: 3rd Ciudad de Cabra classic vehicle gathering at Centro ADIE; exhibition 10:00-13:30, Mausoleum tour at 11:30, town route at 13:30, lunch at 14:30 and prizes at 16:30.
  • 09:00: Ciudad de Cabra pétanque trophy, gardens beside the district civic centre.
  • 14:30-19:30: Feria al Mediodía in Redondo Marqués and Plaza de España; 17:00: Carolina Garrido; 14:30: official reception for the proclaimer, court of honour and authorities at Círculo de la Amistad.
  • 15:00-20:00: Paseo de Caballos following the 5 September route and stops.
  • 17:30: Día de la Mujer assembly in Plaza de España; 18:00: gathering at Cinestudio Municipal with Coro Romero Virgen de la Sierra.
  • 18:00: Jurassic and Water Route from the Tourist Office, booking required.
  • 19:00: mixed bullfight at Plaza de Toros with Andy Cartagena, Borja Jiménez and Javier Jiménez.
  • 19:00: 6th Virgen de la Sierra basketball trophy, municipal sports hall.
  • 19:30: Feria de Tarde with DJ Edo and Los Tabernícolas, Caseta Municipal.
  • 20:00: Frasky and Inma present Magic Story, Plaza de España.
  • 21:00: Mujeres cantan a los poetas de Cabra poetry evening and charity dinner, Palacio de las Hermanas Franciscanas.
  • 00:00: Destrangis Estopa tribute concert, followed by DJ Luis Pallarés, Caseta Municipal.

Monday 7 September 2026

  • 11:00: Ford and Tysa charity vehicle test, Hotel Mitra.
  • 14:30-19:30: Feria al Mediodía in Redondo Marqués and Plaza de España; 17:00: A mi manera, a Siempre Así tribute.
  • 15:00: official reception for the proclaimer, court of honour and authorities, Centro Filarmónico Egabrense.
  • 15:00-20:00: Paseo de Caballos following the 5 September route and stops.
  • 18:00-20:00: olive-product escape room, Cooperativa Olivarera de Cabra, booking required.
  • 19:30 to approximately 24:00: Feria de Tarde with DJ Ramón Gueto, Caseta Municipal.
  • 00:00: Decai concert, followed by DJ José González, Caseta Municipal.

Tuesday 8 September 2026

  • 00:00: salutation to María Santísima de la Sierra for the Nativity of Mary, from Plaza Vieja to the parish church of Asunción y Ángeles; fireworks when the procession reaches Plaza Rubén Darío.
  • 09:00: dawn parade by the Banda de Música de Cabra through Antonio Povedano, Almaraz, Pepita Jiménez, González Meneses, José Peña y Aguayo, Fernando Pallarés, Federico García Lorca, Constitución, San Marcos, Nicolás Albornoz, Juan Grande, Norte, San Roque, Pedro Gómez, Mires, Terzuela, José Solís, Cervantes, Dionisio Alcalá Galiano, San Agustín, Teniente Fernández, Plaza Vieja and Mayor, ending at the parish church.
  • 10:30: solemn religious service in Asunción y Ángeles, sung by Centro Filarmónico Egabrense and the Fundación Aguilar y Eslava chamber choir.
  • 12:00: traditional Misa de la Bandera in Asunción y Ángeles, with Coro Romero Virgen de la Sierra.
  • 14:30-19:30: Feria al Mediodía in Redondo Marqués and Plaza de España; 17:00: Cajoneras flamenco group.
  • 19:30: Feria de Tarde with DJ Ramón Gueto, Caseta Municipal.
  • 20:30: glorious procession from the parish church through Mayor, Plaza Vieja, José de Silva, Dionisio Alcalá Galiano, San Agustín, Priego, Marqués de Cabra, Enrique de las Morenas, Juan Valera, Barahona de Soto, Plaza de España, José Solís, Plaza Vieja and Mayor.
  • During the procession: tribute by Centro Filarmónico Egabrense; the Salve outside the Town Hall sung by David Sánchez Vico and Lucía Sánchez García, accompanied by Alfonso Fernández Pérez-Aranda and Álvaro Espejo Bonilla; floral offering by the mayor.
  • On reaching Plaza Vieja: extraordinary fireworks; afterwards, DJ José González at Caseta Municipal.

Services, safety and accessibility

  • 4, 7 and 8 September: free special bus from the bus station to Barriada Virgen de la Sierra. Departure on 4 September at 01:00; on 7 and 8 September at 21:00, 22:00, 00:00 and 01:30.
  • 4-7 September, 00:00-03:00: Punto Violeta at the Real de la Feria.
  • Authorised drinking area at the Centro ADIE car park until 03:00.
  • Children's caseta from 22:00 to 01:30 for ages 3-10, 4-8 September; low-noise fairground period from 20:30 to 21:30 every day.

After the fair and exhibitions

  • 9-17 September, 20:00: novena in honour of María Santísima de la Sierra, Asunción y Ángeles parish church.
  • 11-13 September: 7th Challenge Ciclista La Subbética; Cabra-Cabra stage and 84th Vuelta Ciclista a Cabra on 13 September, from Parque La Tejera to the sanctuary.
  • 14 September, 13:30: award and poster presentation for the IES Felipe Solís 70th anniversary.
  • 26 September, 17:00: 8th Ciudad de Cabra mystery conference, Teatro El Jardinito; 26 September-4 October: 31st National Audiovisual Creation Festival.
  • 31 August-7 September: 2026 fair poster entries, Town Hall ground floor; 4-20 September: paintings by Manuel Cumplido Luque, Capilla del Antiguo Asilo; 18-27 September: annual painting exhibition, Casa de la Cultura; 25 September-4 October: Cabra es de cine, Capilla del Antiguo Asilo.
