Local festivals in Xirivella

The patronal festivities usually run from late August into the first days of September. The Virgen de la Salud has her main day on 8 September, followed by the Santísimo Cristo de la Luz on the 9th.

Usual celebration

The opening speech by the Clavarios de la Virgen de la Salud launches the cycle in Plaza de la Ermita and precedes the transfer of the pilgrim image to the sanctuary. Masses, processions and visits to the image’s chapel accompany the days dedicated to the patron saint and Cristo de la Luz.

The Nit de les Figues brings neighbours together for street dinners on the eve of the patron saint’s day. The popular programme also includes the funfair, fireworks, a cordà, music, street parades and events promoted by local associations and community groups.

Other celebrations

The Fallas occupy the March calendar through their commissions and monuments. The Mostra Internacional de Pallassos turns venues across Xirivella into stages for performing arts and comedy during autumn.
