Local festivals in Picanya

The Festes Majors de la Preciosíssima Sang are usually celebrated for about two weeks around the second Wednesday after Sant Pere. Plaça del País Valencià, the Centre Cultural and the streets host music, dance, fireworks, parades, Moors and Christians, sport, community suppers, the procession and associations' events. The Town Council, festival stewards, Unió Musical, cultural, sports and social groups and residents take part.

Sants de la Pedra

For about five days in July, the stewards of Saints Abdon and Sennen organise Entrà de la Murta, Passà del Quadret, a floral offering, floats, mass, procession, suppers and music. Calle Colón, the church and Plaça del País Valencià form the focus of a neighbourhood celebration sustained by families, associations and festival groups.

Other celebrations: Mare de Déu de Montserrat and Corpus

Around 8 September, the female festival stewards, brotherhood, Town Council and residents honour the Mare de Déu de Montserrat for several days with bell ringing, masses, offerings, music, folk culture, suppers and dancing around Plaça de la Constitució. At Corpus Christi, residents cover the processional streets with flower petals and local dance groups perform the Dansetes del Corpus, with figures such as the Moma, Magrana and Nanos.
