Local festivals in L'Olleria
The patronal Moors and Christians festivities are usually celebrated over several days between the final weekend in August and the first weekend in September. The filaes of the Moorish and Christian sides, their captains and the music bands lead the grand entrance along Avinguda Jaume I, the morning parades, the embassies in Plaça de la Vila and processions through the town centre.
Patron saints and traditional events
The Mare de Déu de Loreto, Sant Miquel, Santíssim Crist de la Palma and Santíssim Ecce-Homo shape the religious days. The floral offering in Plaça de la Verge de Loreto, masses in the parish church, processions, the mascletà in Parc del Beat Pare Ferreres and the children's entrance bring together festival participants, musicians, families and residents.
Other celebrations: Festa de la Magdalena
On the Saturday nearest 22 July, the Festa de la Magdalena preserves the Ball dels Bojos. The dancers strike padded carxots in the manner of stick dances, weave figures and build human towers such as the Figuereta, linking music, dance and popular participation in a tradition revived by the town.
