Local festivals in Montserrat
The patronal festivities of Our Lady of the Assumption and Saint Roch are usually celebrated over several days around 15 and 16 August. The church, square and streets of the town centre host processions, parades, dancing and concerts, together with cordades and firework displays. The Town Council, festival organisers, musical groups and residents take part in the organisation and maintain the connection between devotion, music and gunpowder traditions.
Usual celebration of the bull fair
Following the patronal festivities, the bull fair usually occupies several days in the second half of August. A temporary arena and the urban route host bull events and the traditional Prova i Entrada, with cattle running through the streets. Peñas, breeders, participants and spectators sustain an event closely linked to the local festive calendar.
Other events: Fallas and music
The Montserrat Fallas are usually celebrated over several days in March, one week after Saint Joseph's Day, with monuments, parades, gunpowder traditions and gatherings by the Fallas community. In July, Plaça de l'Església also hosts the Band Festival and International Chamber Music Week, organised with the participation of Societat Instructiva Unió Musical, performers, students and cultural organisations.
