Local festivals in Massanassa
The Festes Majors in honour of Santísimo Cristo de la Vida are usually celebrated over roughly two weeks leading up to 24 June, San Juan's day. The opening presentation, paella festival, children's activities, parade, music-band festival, bonfire and open-air dance bring together residents, associations, musicians and municipal services.
San Juan, the procession and Moors and Christians
On 24 June, the mascletà, floral offering and procession dedicated to Cristo de la Vida form the heart of the celebrations. During the festival week, Intercomparsa's filaes join the Town Council in organising the Grand Moors and Christians Entrance and other community events, while sporting competitions extend the festivities across different municipal venues.
Other celebrations: Fallas and Música i Festa
In March, the four Fallas associations build their monuments and sustain street parades, music, fireworks and community gatherings until San José. After the San Juan festivities, the international Música i Festa event extends the cultural calendar; around 9 October, the Culture Department also promotes festivities and cultural activities linked to Valencian tradition.
