Local festivals in Llíria

The Fira i Festes de Sant Miquel is Llíria’s principal festival and is usually celebrated during the second half of September. On the 28th, the Baixà carries the archangel’s image from the Real Monasterio de Sant Miquel to the church of the Assumption; the principal feast falls on the 29th and the Pujà returns the image to the monastery on the 30th.

Music, fireworks and festive tradition

The A Mos Redó food and trade fair, band concert, Valencian pelota, horse-pulling contests, carriage rides, theatre, dance, mascletàs and firework displays accompany the religious events. The Town Council, bands, associations and the bearers of Sant Miquel sustain a celebration closely linked to the city’s musical identity.

Other celebrations: Puríssima and Remei

The Puríssima festivities are usually held at the end of August and the Remei festivities at the beginning of September. Their respective brotherhoods organise parades, religious observances, Moors and Christians, giants and big-head figures, fireworks and music, with Banda Primitiva linked to Puríssima and Unió Musical to the Remei celebration.
