Local festivals in Catarroja

The usual celebration of the patronal festivities of Sant Miquel takes place during September, coinciding with the end of the rice harvest. The comparsas, festival associations and Town Council organise embassies, band entrances, musket displays and the Grand Moors and Christians Entrance.

Harbour, food and lateen sailing

Port de Catarroja connects the main festivities with the culture of l’Albufera through the International Allipebre Competition and lateen-sailing regattas. The Sant Miquel procession brings together images venerated in the municipality’s parishes and neighbourhoods.

Sant Pere and other celebrations

On 29 June, the fishing neighbourhood of les Barraques celebrates Sant Pere. The image is carried in pilgrimage to the harbour, placed aboard a boat and taken across the lake accompanied by other vessels; the following day, the Dia del Gos brings together paellas and fancy dress. Saint Anthony the Abbot, the Fallas and Santísimo Cristo de la Piedad complete the traditional calendar.
