Local festivals in Bétera

The Festa de les Alfàbegues, dedicated to the Mare de Déu d’Agost, is usually celebrated in August and has its principal day on the 15th. The monumental basil plants are grown for months in the Hort de les Alfàbegues and carried through the streets before being offered to the Virgin.

Obreres, majorals and the rodà

The obreres represent Bétera throughout the festive cycle, while the majorals help organise the events. During the rodà, cossieters carry the huge basil plants amid dolçaina and tabal music, coloured ribbons and a shower of confetti.

Other events with music and fireworks

The Cantà, offering Mass and procession complete the musical and religious dimension. Firework traditions appear in the Coet de Luxe, Cordà, Coetà and Coetà del Gos, events closely associated with the August festivities.
