Local festivals in l'Alcúdia

The Mare de Déu de l'Oreto main festivities are usually celebrated from 1 to 8 September and last eight days. The arrival of the image and the processions bring together giants and big-headed figures, biblical characters, musicians and groups such as Pastorets, Dansadors, Arquets, Tornejants, la Carxofa and the Moixeranga dels Negrets; the Bolero de l'Alcúdia, fireworks and the involvement of the parish, festival troupes and residents complete the town's principal celebration.

Sant Antoni and Romeria de la Canya

Around 17 January, the Sant Antoni festival lasts from the eve into the saint's morning. The festers prepare the bonfire and communal barbecue beside the hermitage, Dimonis Enroscats take a fire run through the streets, El Bolero Grup de Danses performs winter dances and families join the blessing of animals. January also brings the Romeria de la Canya to Pont de Maria to gather the cane preserved for the September festivities.

Other events and traditional celebrations

Fallas fills March with monuments, music and the cremà, while Holy Week preserves processions documented since the 17th century from Palm Sunday to Easter. Sant Joan dances and bonfire, the 9 d'Octubre food fair, the Ball de Carrer in Carrer Nou and Sant Andreu broaden a calendar sustained by cultural associations, brotherhoods, traders, dance groups and residents.
