Local festivals in l’Alcora

The Festa del Rotllo is usually celebrated between March and April, on Easter Monday with a children's pilgrimage from Plaça de l'Església to the Sant Cristòfol chapel. The tradition began in the eighteenth century, when a procession of children prayed for rain during a severe drought. After returning to the town, participants join the official procession and the characteristic aniseed bread rolls are distributed.

Pilgrimage, angelets and Sant Cristòfol chapel

Children lead the route and share breakfast around the chapel. On the way back they meet the young angelets and proceed together towards the church. Families, the parish, the Town Council and local organisations participate in and sustain a celebration recognised for its tourist interest.

Other celebrations: Rompida de la Hora

At noon on Good Friday, more than one thousand drums gather in Plaça d'Espanya and wait for the Repés bells before beginning a unified beat. The procession moves towards Plaça de l'Església, where the sound breaks the silence once more. The tradition began in 1991, brings together local confraternities and forms part of the drum-playing heritage recognised by UNESCO since 2018.
