Local festivals in Mutxamel

The Moors and Christians festivities are usually celebrated from 7 to 12 September in honour of the Mare de Déu de Loreto. Documented since 1843, the tradition brings together ten comparsas, whose members participate across the Moorish and Christian sides.

Parades, embassies and devotion

The Grand Entrance, dawn parades, mock battles, Moorish and Christian embassies, the Retreta and the handing over of flags shape the principal days. Bands accompany the comparsas along Avenida Carlos Soler and around the festival castle.

Other celebrations: El Salvador and the Ravalet

The El Salvador festival on 6 August serves as the Day of the Signal, announcing the festive cycle with the patron saint’s procession and the flags. In September, the Ravalet honours the Virgen de Montserrat with a dawn celebration, flower offering, dansà, firecracker display and procession through its traditional streets.
