Local festivals in Ibi
The Moors and Christians festivities are usually celebrated over several days in September in honour of the Virgen de los Desamparados. Fourteen comparsas, divided between the Moorish and Christian sides, take part in the Entradas, children's parade, arquebus displays, embassies at the castle, floral offering and procession.
Winter festivities and Els Enfarinats
Between December and January, the Santa Llúcia i Nadal festivities bring together the Dançà, the Tapats, satirical proclamations and music played on xaramita and tabal. On 28 December, Els Enfarinats symbolically take control of the local government and turn the church square into the setting for their battle of flour, eggs and firecrackers.
Other events: the Three Kings in the Toy Town
Ibi's toy-making tradition takes centre stage on the eve of Epiphany. After the herald collects children's letters, the parade on 5 January arrives with pages and Paqueteros Reales, who use ladders to deliver presents through balconies. Festival associations, comparsas, musicians and residents keep this calendar alive.
