Local festivals in Berriozar

The usual celebration of the Berriozar festivities begins on the last Wednesday in August and lasts five days. The opening rocket is launched from the bandstand in Plaza Eguzki, while the old quarter hosts the traditional mayordomos and mayordomas dance. The town band, giants troupe, fanfare and dance groups fill the streets, as associations, community groups, peñas, the Town Council and residents prepare and organise the events.

Berriozar Day

On the fourth Saturday in May, Plaza Eguzki and nearby venues host Berriozar Day, held since 2000. Lacemakers' gatherings, a craft fair, talo tasting, dance, music and sport form a participatory day organised by numerous local associations and residents.

Other events: San Juan bonfires

On the night of 23 to 24 June, local groups light bonfires after sunset. Joaldunak accompany the fires with their cowbells and the fanfare brings music to the streets; young people and adults gather to jump over the bonfires and cook chistorra over the embers, maintaining a community celebration linked to the summer solstice.
