Local festivals in Murcia

The September Fair brings together devotion to the Virgen de la Fuensanta, the huerta barracas, the Moors and Christians festivities and a cultural programme spread across central Murcia, the Malecón, La Fica and Teatro Romea.

Usual celebration

The fair is usually held over several days in September, around the patron's stay in the city and the pilgrimage that returns her image to the sanctuary. The City Council, huerta clubs, festival associations, musicians and theatre companies take part in religious events, parades, concerts, plays and gatherings at the barracas.

Programme for 2026

The 2026 edition runs from 3 to 15 September, a thirteen-day period. Walls gives the official opening speech on 4 September at 9.30 pm in Plaza del Cardenal Belluga; the Moors and Christians festivities take place from 7 to 14 September, including parades and the Medieval Camp by the Malecón, while the Teatro en Feria season occupies the Romea from 3 to 14 September.

Local public holidays in 2026

The municipal calendar declares two dates: 7 April for Bando de la Huerta and 15 September for the Romería de Nuestra Señora de la Fuensanta. These are local non-working days and do not cover the full duration of either the Fair or the Spring Festivals.

Other events

Bando de la Huerta is Murcia's other major municipal celebration in 2026 and belongs to the spring festival cycle, separate from the September Fair.
