Local festivals in Mula
The Night of the Drums is traditionally celebrated from midnight between Holy Tuesday and Holy Wednesday. Thousands of drummers wearing black tunics gather in Plaza del Ayuntamiento and continue the collective drumming for hours through the historic streets. The Tamborada forms part of Holy Week in Mula alongside the processions held from Wednesday to Good Friday and on Easter Sunday.
San Isidro and market-garden traditions
The San Isidro festival is usually held on the second Saturday in May. A huertano Mass and procession precede a float parade through the central streets, where local clubs and residents wear traditional dress, share local produce and accompany the route with songs and dances. The Town Council and San Isidro Labrador Brotherhood coordinate the celebration with the huertano clubs.
Other celebrations: September fair and patronal festivities
The patronal fair usually lasts seven days, from 19 to 25 September, and honours the Niño Jesús del Balate, Virgen del Carmen and San Felipe Mártir. Pilgrims from the municipality and the Ricote Valley accompany the image of the Niño between Santo Domingo church, the Royal Monastery of La Encarnación and its sanctuary. Processions, folklore, crafts, fairground attractions and gatherings in Parque Cristóbal Gabarrón complete the cycle with brotherhoods, cultural groups and municipal services taking part.
