Local festivals in Molina de Segura
Molina de Segura's patronal festivities honour the Virgen de la Consolación and combine pilgrimages, cultural events, a fair, music and participation by associations and sports clubs. Their cycle occupies several weeks in September and does not correspond exactly to the local public holidays.
Usual celebration
The tradition begins on the first Saturday in September with the pilgrimage carrying the image from her chapel to Nuestra Señora de la Asunción church. The floral offering leaves Plaza del Ayuntamiento, with participants wearing regional dress, and the cycle ends on the third Monday in September with the return pilgrimage. Between these moments there are music, floats, exhibitions, folklore and events in Plaza de España, Parque de la Compañía, the fairground and other municipal venues.
Sports programme for the 2026 festivities
The Town Council's Sport and Health Department published an official strand of 34 activities from 29 August to 4 October. Its scope is sporting only, rather than the general festival programme. It includes tournaments and exhibitions at El Romeral, Parque de la Compañía and the España and Europa squares; established events include the Bicycle Festival on 13 September and motocross on 4 October, organised with local clubs and organisations.
Local public holidays in 2026
The Region of Murcia resolution sets 22 January and 21 September. These are the two local public holidays in 2026; the latter coincides with the traditional close of the patronal cycle, but it does not make every festival day a non-working day.
Other events
Molina also maintains its Theatre Festival, B-Side and celebrations in neighbourhoods and outlying settlements, each with its own organisers, duration and programme.
