Local festivals in Abarán
The San Cosme and San Damián patronal festivities are usually celebrated during the second half of September, around the 27th. The procession of the Santos Médicos, the flower parade with floats, giants and big-headed figures, band music and evening dances in the Municipal Park form the heart of the celebration, which is also connected with the Virgen del Oro.
Children's Day
On 6 January, the Hermandad de las Ánimas brotherhood carries images of the Christ Child to homes, health centres and neighbourhoods across Abarán. Saddlebags, lanterns and carols accompany a tradition lasting throughout the day in the town centre, Virgen del Oro, Hoya del Campo and San José Artesano.
Other celebrations: Holy Week
On Easter Sunday, the Risen Christ and the Virgin meet in Plaza del Ayuntamiento amid bows and the release of doves. Before dawn on Good Friday, the Penitents' procession leaves San Pablo Church and preserves traditional songs at its stopping points.
