Local festivals in Villaviciosa de Odón
The festival of San Sebastián, the municipality’s patron saint, has its main day on 20 January and preserves ethnographic traditions such as bidding, the Rondón dance and the auction for the right to carry the saint’s platform. The Hermandad de San Sebastián brings residents together for religious events and community gatherings in Plaza de la Constitución.
September patronal festivities
The festivities in honour of Santísimo Cristo del Milagro and Nuestra Señora de la Soledad are usually held in the second half of September. The two brotherhoods participate in religious events, while local clubs and the Town Council organise music, sport and children’s activities, bullfighting events and neighbourhood gatherings.
Other celebrations: La Pólvora
The fireworks display known as La Pólvora traditionally marks the beginning of the September festivities at Ronda de los Caballos. The opening speech in the town square, Plaza de la Constitución, and the brotherhoods’ events complete the celebration’s most recognisable elements.
