Local festivals in San Agustín del Guadalix
The patronal festivities honouring the Virgen de Navalazarza are usually celebrated over several days on the third weekend in September. Religious observances dedicated to the patron share the streets and venues with the opening speech, music, sport and bullfighting events, organised with the participation of the Town Council, the Brotherhood, peñas, associations and local clubs.
Bull runs and the Cuesta del Tirón
The bull runs and bullfighting fair form part of the municipality's festive identity. The traditional Cuesta del Tirón road race adds a sporting gathering to celebrations held in Plaza de la Constitución, the fairground and other local spaces, bringing several generations of residents together.
Other celebrations: Taral pilgrimage and San Agustín
On the third weekend in May, the pilgrimage known as the Taral accompanies the Virgen de Navalazarza on foot to her hermitage and continues with a community day in the countryside. On 28 August, the town also celebrates San Agustín, the saint who gives the municipality its name and whose local devotion is documented from the 16th century.
