The patronal festivities of the Virgen de las Angustias are usually celebrated around the third Sunday in September and continue for several days. The patron saint’s hermitage, the church of the Natividad de Nuestra Señora, Plaza de España and the fairground provide the settings for religious and popular events.
Procession, peñas and fair
The novena, floral offering, band music and procession of the image through the streets accompany the proclamation, concerts, peña gatherings and traditional bull fair. The Hermandad de la Virgen de las Angustias, the parish, Town Council, Local Police, Civil Protection and residents all participate in organising and holding the celebration.
Other celebrations: the Pilar festivities
In October, the Pilar festivities retain religious observances, gatherings in Plaza de España and popular and bull-related events. Peñas, families and local associations take part in an occasion that extends the municipality’s festive calendar beyond the September patronal celebrations.
