Local festivals in El Álamo
The Santísimo Cristo de la Salud patronal festivities are usually celebrated over six days, from 31 August to 5 September. The opening address, inaugural fireworks, floral offering and procession structure celebrations in which peñas, the Town Council, municipal staff, volunteers and residents fill the streets and festival venues with music, family activities, sport and bull-running events.
Offering, traditional dress and family participation
During the floral offering, many residents wear the town's traditional dress. On 2 September, families present children born during the previous year to Cristo de la Salud, an event that reinforces the intergenerational nature of the festival and the patron's connection with the community.
Other celebrations: San Isidro and the Medieval Fair
Between 9 and 15 May, San Isidro usually brings sporting activities, music and a community meal of cocido madrileño to the El Coto countryside. Around the May holiday weekend, the Gran Feria Medieval stretches for nearly two kilometres through the town centre with craftspeople, jousting, falconry, theatre, music and children's activities. The fair began in 1996 and has been recognised as a Festival of Regional Tourist Interest since 2016.
