Local festivals in Alpedrete
The patronal festivities honouring Santa Quiteria are usually celebrated around 22 May. The carrying of the image from the hermitage to the parish church of the Asunción, the floral offering, Mass and the procession are combined with the opening address, a parade of local clubs, brass bands and a communal meal in the streets and squares of the town centre.
Pilgrimage and community participation
The Santa Quiteria pilgrimage brings the Mozas y Mozos association, families and visitors together at La Dehesa. A route linked to transhumance, music, games and the choice of ceremonial sponsors maintain a countryside gathering that connects the patronal celebration with Alpedrete's livestock landscape.
Other celebrations: Virgen del Carmen in Los Negrales
The Los Negrales district honours the Virgen del Carmen during July. The parish, festival committee and the Alpedrete and Collado Villalba councils support the novena, floral offering, procession and a pilgrimage with floats and horses to the meadow beside the Cañada Real Coruñesa, accompanied by neighbourhood gatherings, music and traditional activities.
