Local festivals in Alfaro

Alfaro's largest celebration is the patronal festival of San Roque and San Ezequiel Moreno. The May festivities honouring San Isidro and the Nuestra Señora del Burgo festival complete a calendar combining peñas, music, farming traditions, religious observances and popular culture.

Usual celebration

The main festivities usually begin on 14 August with the opening rocket and centre on 16 August, San Roque. They include street parades, giants and big-headed figures, bull runs, a bullfighting fair, food competitions, music, sport and a float parade. The Entierro de la Cuba closes the festival. In May, San Isidro brings a craft fair, procession and popular events; on 8 September, the Virgen del Burgo is honoured with mass, a procession and the traditional dawn singing of La Aurora.

Other events

The Town Hall's cultural calendar adds the May festivities, events around the Virgen del Burgo and cultural and sporting activities held in Alfaro's squares, streets and public venues.
