Local festivals in Sanxenxo
The feast of San Xenxo is usually celebrated on 25 August in Sanxenxo itself. The day brings together street music, traditional music, an artisan market, a communal sardine meal, Mass and a procession around the harbour and central squares. The Town Council, parish, Sanxenxo municipal band and cultural groups take part in an occasion that also hosts Tourist Day.
Santa Rosalía and Our Lady of Mount Carmel
The patronal festivities of Santa Rosalía and Our Lady of Mount Carmel usually last for two days, 4 and 5 September. Religious observances, music and community gatherings are spread across the town centre and harbour area, with municipal, parish and local participation.
Other celebrations: maritime and parish festivals
Portonovo celebrates San Roque and Our Lady of Mount Carmel over several days in mid-August, while Baltar, Vilalonga and Noalla hold their own maritime festivities in July. On the last Saturday in August, the Nosa Señora da Lanzada pilgrimage leads to the chapel beside the sea and preserves the tradition of bathing in nine waves. Festival committees, cultural associations, seafarers and residents sustain these celebrations across the municipality's parishes.
