Usual celebration

The Virxe Peregrina festivities centre on the second Sunday in August and last for more than a week. The Peregrina sanctuary, Alameda and the historic-centre squares host the opening speech, concerts, traditional music, children's activities and religious events. The City Council, cultural associations and residents' groups contribute to a programme that also reaches neighbourhoods and rural parishes.

Other cultural events

Other events include Feira Franca, which recalls the tax-free market privilege granted to Pontevedra in 1467 and transforms the historic centre with a market, crafts, street meals and medieval staging.
