Local festivals in Allariz
The Festa do Boi and the Festas de San Bieito are Allariz's two principal celebrations. The first fills the Corpus Christi period with a historic community festival; the second brings music, street theatre, a procession and entertainment to the town centre in July.
Usual celebration
The Festa do Boi, revived in 1983 by the Xan de Arzúa Cultural Association, usually lasts nine days around Corpus Christi. Medieval Sunday, communal gatherings, street music and the involvement of rural communities reinforce its collective character. San Bieito is celebrated around 11 July, with San Bieito church, the Alameda, A Barreira, Praza do Matadoiro and Campo de Vilanova among its venues.
Other events
The Festa da Empanada, the International Garden Festival and the municipal summer programme broaden the calendar with food, landscape, performing arts, routes and sporting activities.
