Local festivals in Arteixo
Arteixo shares its festival calendar between the main town and thirteen parishes. Santiago Apóstolo is the patronal festival of Arteixo itself, while festival committees, associations, parishes, the Banda de Música Santiago de Arteixo and the Council sustain pilgrimages, open-air dances and local celebrations throughout the municipality.
Usual celebration
Santiago Apóstolo's main day is 25 July, and several days of events are held in central Arteixo, including Masses, lunchtime music sessions, concerts, festivals, open-air dances and children's activities in squares and other public places. The official parish festival listing also identifies Santa Eufemia on 16 September and numerous pilgrimages and patronal festivities in the other parishes.
Other events
The parish calendar includes San Pedro in Armentón, San Xoán in Chamín, Santa Mariña in Lañas and the Romaría da Pedra do Aguillón in O Rañal. The Festa das Flores and the Centro Cívico Cultural's activities complete a calendar extending beyond the patronal festival.
