Local festivals in A Pobra do Caramiñal

Carme dos Pincheiros is usually celebrated on the weekend of the third Sunday in August. Its name recalls the seafarers who used the pincho fishing method and whose season ended around this time. The Virgen del Carmen procession, brass bands, pipe groups, giants and cabezudos, the San Juerguines and the Festa da Auga fill the central squares and streets.

The Nazareno

On the third Sunday in September, the Jesús Nazareno festival, recognised as an event of tourist interest in Galicia, brings together religious observances, music and one of the town's most distinctive votive traditions. People giving thanks for favours received join the procession, while relatives or friends carry coffins as offerings associated with promises made after recovery from illness.

Other events: romerías and parish festivities

The Virgen de Moldes romería, usually held on the second weekend in May, and celebrations in the parishes complete the municipal calendar. Committees, brotherhoods, traditional music groups, associations and the Town Council sustain festivities that connect the seafaring centre with the Barbanza landscape.
