Local festivals in A Laracha
The A Laracha patronal festivities are usually celebrated over three days, from 15 to 17 August. Torás parish church, San Roque chapel and the streets of the municipal centre host masses, the procession of the images, open-air dances, games, competitions and sports. The Town Council works with the parish, festival committee, associations and residents on a celebration dedicated to Our Lady, San Roque and the Blessed Sacrament.
Romaría dos Milagres in Caión
On 8 September, Caión welcomes pilgrims for the pilgrimage of Nuestra Señora de los Milagres, recognised for its tourist interest in Galicia. On the preceding Sunday, the image is carried in procession from Nuestra Señora del Socorro church to the sanctuary; pilgrims and families then visit the holy spring, linked by popular tradition to rituals for caring for the skin. The parish, brotherhood members, committees, Town Council and Caión residents sustain its religious and popular events.
Other events: pilgrimages and celebrations
On 20 July, the oak grove and Santa Margarida chapel in Montemaior host mass, a countryside meal and visits to the traditional spring. San Isidro is celebrated on the weekend nearest 15 May with a tribute to rural workers, Galician music and dance, and the involvement of local associations. The thirteen parishes complete the calendar with patronal festivities organised by their committees in collaboration with the Council.
