Local festivals in Don Benito

La Velá, Tradición y Gastronomía is one of the celebrations most closely connected with Don Benito's identity. Centred on the Virgin of the Crosses, patron of the town and its surrounding district, it brings together devotion, culture, local food and community life from late September until 12 October.

Usual celebration

The image leaves its hermitage and is welcomed into Don Benito before remaining at the parish church of Santiago. The novena, proclamation, floral offering, competitions, food events and farewell to the Virgin shape the festival. The Brotherhood of Our Lady of the Crosses, the Town Council, parishes, associations and local groups take part in its organisation.

Other events

Don Benito's September Fair and Festivities run for several days with concerts, bull events, children's activities and events at the fairground and other parts of the town.
