Local festivals in Cunit
The summer Festa Major is usually celebrated on the second weekend of July in honour of Sant Cristòfol. A solemn Mass and vehicle blessing share the programme with processions of giants, big-head figures and folk dances, a correfoc, sardanes, concerts and fireworks beside the beach.
Folk culture and community participation
Local organisations maintain a broad display of Catalan folk culture involving grallers, devils, bestiary figures, stick dancers, shepherd dancers and hoop dancers. Streets and squares become meeting places for residents of all ages, and the festival usually closes with habaneras and hot rum punch, underlining Cunit's connection with the coast.
Other celebrations: Sant Sebastià
On 20 January, Cunit celebrates its winter Festa Major in honour of Sant Sebastià. A solemn Mass, sardanes, an aperitif concert, afternoon dancing and children's activities bring associations, folk-culture groups and residents together around Plaça de la Vila, the historic centre and municipal venues.
