Local festivals in Solsona
The Festa Major de Solsona, held in honour of the Mare de Déu del Claustre, is the town's principal celebration. It usually lasts five days, from 7 to 11 September, and fills Plaça Major, the Cathedral and the historic-centre streets with religious events, music and popular culture organised by the Town Council and local festival groups.
Usual celebration
The gegants, festive bestiary and traditional dances are among the Festa Major's most recognisable features. The tradition also includes parades, ceremonial fireworks, dancing and street celebrations in which cultural groups, residents, families and visitors participate.
Other events and cultural traditions
Carnaval de Solsona and the Caramelles complete a local calendar in which Corpus again brings some of the Festa Major's heritage figures and dances into the streets.
