Local festivals in Vidreres

The Festa Major is usually celebrated over several days on the first weekend in September. Streets and squares host the selection of the Pubilla and Hereu, the Ball de Gala, parades and the Correbous, in a celebration that brings together families, friends and local associations at the end of summer.

The Carnival Ranxo

On Carnival Tuesday, Plaça Lluís Companys, also known as Plaça de l'Oliva, becomes the centre of the Festa del Ranxo, a tradition with more than 150 years of history. On the eve of the event, the committee, ranxers, pubilles and hereus visit the town centre and surrounding farmhouses to collect ingredients. The following day, the ranxers cook them outdoors in large copper cauldrons over wood fires and serve the communal meal at midday.

Other celebrations: Festa Petita

On 17 November, the Festa Petita de Sant Iscle i Santa Victòria honours the town's patron saints during a day of concerts, cinema, sardanes, hot chocolate and children's events. The Town Council, associations and residents thus maintain a festive calendar combining tradition, culture and community gatherings.
