Local festivals in Torroella de Montgrí
The Sant Genís main festival is usually celebrated over several days in the second half of August, around the 25th. Torroella's squares, streets and venues host an opening speech, sardanes, giants and big-headed figures, Ball de l'Àliga, parades, a fire run, festival marquees, music and sporting gatherings. The Town Council organises the programme with the Gegants de Torroella, Grallers del Montgrí, Ducs del Foc, cultural associations, clubs and residents.
Santa Caterina gathering
On the Sunday before 25 November, the community gathers around the Santa Caterina hermitage in the Montgrí massif. The day links a walk through the landscape with community life beside a site of medieval origin and deep symbolic value for the municipality, involving families, walkers, associations and custodians of local heritage.
