Local festivals in Caldes de Malavella

The Festa Major is usually celebrated over six days around the first Sunday in August. The proclamation and opening cercavila begin a programme that brings the giants' ceremonial dances, the megatraca, havaneres, correfoc, festive procession, sardanes and concerts by Coral Cantaires into the streets and squares, led by local associations, the Hereu, the Pubilla and residents.

Other events: Sant Maurici gathering

On 22 September, Agrupació de Sardanistes organises the Aplec de Sant Maurici. The day begins in Plaça de l'Església and continues on foot to the chapel, accompanied by Hereu Riera and the small giant figures Maurici and Seclina; breakfast, mass, sardanes, traditional dances, a communal rice meal and a cobla concert follow there.

Fira de l'Aigua

On the first Sunday in October, the Fira de l'Aigua fills the town centre for a day devoted to thermal culture. Heritage visits, demonstrations and workshops combine thermal water, history, food and wellbeing, while the lacemakers' gathering, giants and Sardaxou add craft, popular culture and sardanes.
