Local festivals in Sant Celoni
The September Festa Major is usually celebrated over several days around the weekend nearest 8 September, in honour of the Mare de Déu del Puig. The opening speech, street parades, dances, concerts, children's activities, fairs and correfocs fill Plaça de la Vila and other central spaces. The Town Council and many local organisations organise the celebration.
Corremonts and the Sant Martí festival
Corremonts distinguishes the September festival with a popular contest between the MontSenys and MontNegres groups, whose names refer to the two mountains surrounding the town. Sant Celoni also holds its second main festival for several days around the weekend nearest 11 November, dedicated to its patron Sant Martí, with cultural and traditional events and the craft fair.
Other celebrations: Ball de Gitanes and festivals in La Batllòria
On Carnival Sunday, Plaça de la Vila hosts the Ball de Gitanes, documented since 1767 and firmly revived in 1981. The children's Filferro group and the adult Ferro group dance with characters such as the Diablots, the Vell, the Vella and the Capità de Cavalls. La Batllòria celebrates its summer festival on the fourth weekend of August and honours the Mare de Déu de l'Esperança on 18 December.
