Local festivals in Premià de Mar
The Festa Major de Pirates i Premianencs is usually celebrated around 10 July, the feast of Sant Cristòfol. Over several days, the streets, squares and beach host a festive story in which residents symbolically divide into pirates and premianencs.
Desembarcament and festive battle
The Desembarcament brings the pirates ashore and begins a participatory sequence of parades, camps, music, fire and challenges. The final battle and expulsion free the Town Hall once again. The Comissió de Pirates i Premianencs, popular-culture organisations, volunteers and residents sustain this collective performance.
Other celebrations: popular culture and winter festival
The main festival includes street parades, giants, castellers, habaneras, dances and fireworks. In winter, a second main festival coincides with Carnival and brings together parades, fancy dress, music, fire, food and activities organised by local groups.
