Local festivals in Pineda de Mar
The Festa Major de Sant Joan Baptista is usually celebrated in late August, bringing together several days of popular culture, music, sport and activities connected with the sea. The solemn service in the parish church and the involvement of local organisations sit alongside gatherings in the squares, concerts and family events.
Danses de Pineda and popular culture
The Danses de Pineda are one of the festival’s distinctive traditions. The Rotllet, Bolangera, Patatuf, Contrapàs and Dansa are performed in the street to cobla music with local participation. The giants’ gathering, casteller day, correfoc and lighting of the bell tower complete the festive heritage.
Other celebrations and seafaring traditions
The fish auction, tirada a l’art net-hauling display and communal sardine meal recall Pineda’s relationship with the coast and maritime trades. Cultural associations, dance groups, colles and sports clubs work with the Town Council to sustain these celebrations.
