Festivals in Montmeló
Discover the festivals of Montmeló, led by a participatory Festa Major in which penyes, Diables, gegants, dance and music fill the town's squares and streets.
Local festivals in Montmeló
The Festa Major is usually celebrated over four days between late June and early July. The Toc d'Inici follows the streets to Plaça de la Vila and brings together the Polca de Montmeló, gegants, grallers, Diables and the Ball de Gitanes. Penyes and local associations participate in parades, concerts, dances, competitions and food-centred gatherings across Plaça de la Vila, La Quintana, La Cucurny and other municipal spaces.
Patronal feast
On 15 August, Montmeló honours the Assumpció de la Mare de Déu. The celebration retains a solemn mass together with sardanes and havaneres, preserving its link with the former main festival held after the principal summer farming work had been completed.
Other celebrations: Sant Joan and Carnival
The Sant Joan celebration includes a community supper in Plaça de la Quintana, the arrival of the Flama del Canigó, a musical street parade and the lighting of the bonfire in Plaça de la Cucurny. Carnival also lasts several days, with Rei Carnestoltes, groups in costume, a large parade and events organised by local associations.
