Local festivals in Masquefa
The Festa Major de Santa Magdalena is usually celebrated for about six days around 22 July. Streets and squares host eve and feast-day processions, solemn mass, the singing of the goigs, an offering to the patron, sardanes, castellers, concerts and fire traditions. The Town Council, L'Alzinar, the Seguici Festiu and local associations organise a celebration featuring giants, stick dancers, devils and other popular-culture groups.
Usual celebration of Sant Isidre
The Festa Major Petita de Sant Isidre usually lasts a long weekend in mid-May. Plaça de l'Estació, Sala Polivalent and the central streets host children's and adults' correfocs, a parade, mass, a floral offering, the Ball de la Garlanda and the Sopar de Faves supper. Residents and associations also take part in the Faves d'Argent awards, recognising dedication to the town's social and cultural life.
Other events: festive retinue and community culture
The Drac, children's beasts, Ball de Diables, Ball de Bastons, giants and smaller giants, and Ball de Gitanes sustain the festive calendar. Parades, satirical versots, carretillades, cookery exhibitions and sardana gatherings preserve participation by the local groups and connect the two town festivals with Masquefa's community life.
