Local festivals in La Garriga

The Festa Major is usually celebrated for about five days between late July and early August. The opening address, Versots, correfocs, Correaigua, sardana dancing, havaneres, theatre, circus, communal meals and dances, and sports activities take place along the Passeig, in Plaça de Can Dachs, at La Doma and across other municipal spaces.

Organisations, folk culture and community life

The Town Council organises the festival with cultural, sports and youth organisations, fire groups, musicians, traders and local volunteers. Street parades, giants, music and community gatherings combine tradition with contemporary creativity in the streets and squares.

Other celebrations: Corpus Christi and flower carpets

Corpus Christi usually extends over several days and culminates in the making of nearly thirty flower carpets, altars, a mural and the Ou com balla. Residents, schools and organisations work in the streets from early morning; the procession, Pellofa figure, giants, castellers, concerts and heritage open days complete a celebration recognised as a Traditional Festive Element of National Interest.
