Festa Major de Blancs i Blaus de Granollers

Local festivals in Granollers

The Festa Major de Blancs i Blaus turns Granollers into a festive competition between two groups and combines popular culture, music, tests, fire and neighbourhood participation.

Usual celebration

The Town Hall places the core of the festival around the last Thursday of August, a rule adopted in 1930; the contemporary format usually takes up about nine days and two weekends. Blancs and Blaus prepare challenges, parades, concerts, dances, gastronomy and children's and sports activities with the Festa Major Commission and popular culture entities. La Porxada is one of the meeting centres. The rajol competition recalls the 1897 bet between the brick manufacturers known as Rayo and the hereu Maynou, a story recovered in 1983 to create the two colles. A jury decides the winner, who chooses the crier for the following edition.
