Local festivals in Canet de Mar
The Festa Major de Sant Pere i Sant Pau is usually celebrated over several days around 29 June and brings popular culture to the town's streets, rieras and squares. Local organisations, giant-bearer groups and festival associations take part in parades, music, sardanes, correfocs and community activities alongside the celebration of the patron saints.
Mare de Déu de la Misericòrdia
The smaller Festa Major is celebrated around 8 September in honour of the Mare de Déu de la Misericòrdia, patron of Canet and the Maresme. The novena, solemn service at the sanctuary, walk up Passeig de la Misericòrdia, giants and sardanes bring residents and visitors together at the church and its esplanade.
Other celebrations and festival calendar
The cuita de cargols snail-cooking gathering, the Vot de Vila and meetings in the squares and rieras strengthen the community character of the smaller festival. Carnival, the Aplec de Pedracastell, Sant Jordi, the Sant Joan eve celebration and Christmas festivities complete a calendar supported by the council and Canet's associations.
